A look at the how the first Fifty Shades of Grey scene was shot

It may have looked like a simple coffee date, but much like Christian Grey, things were more complicated than they appeared on the Vancouver set of Fifty Shades of Grey.
It took more than 200 cast and crew members at Rainier Provisions to shoot the film’s first scene, which involves Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele getting to know each other.
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” café co-owner Erin Heather tells PEOPLE. “It was quite a production for a relatively small scene.”
The moment also brought the film’s stars Jamie Dornan, 31, and Dakota Johnson, 24, together on set for the first time. Heather says she could feel a really “good energy,” adding that the actors were in great spirits.
“They seemed really happy. It was the first day, so everyone was nervous but excited.”
First-day jitters may also be blamed on the 44 lattes that were made throughout the day for Grey’s character.
“When the shots were done, I was just giving the crew lattes,” Heather tells PEOPLE. “There was no point in throwing them out!”
